Hi my name is Hayley. I’m 25 years old and from the Rhondda Valleys in South Wales. I grew up in a Christian home but in my teenage years I rebelled, left the church and entered the drug scene not realizing the devastation it would cause. I began my journey using cannabis, LSD and at 15 was introduced to the drug that would destroy my mind, speed amphetamine. I thought I had found what I had been looking for in this drug, confidence, credibility and a party lifestyle, never wanting to come down from the high. I was so unhappy in life, not liking who I was and feeling worthless. I was on self-destruct and spiralled out of control.
By the age of 18 I was frequently getting arrested and at 20 was in prison for a violent crime. I felt hopeless and paranoid and after leaving prison ran back to all that I knew to hide in, drugs. My life went from bad to worse and I was now using heroin as well as any other drug I could get my hands on.
